Administrators an now discover multiple WTI console servers and switched rack PDUs from a single device and interface with WTI units without external software. The Device Mangement Utility (DMU) is included on all new MPC, TSM, RSM, RSM-8R4 and AFS series units.
The DMU program allows you to perform the following tasks from one, central WTI unit:
- Discover New WTI Devices
- Create Device Groups
- Change or Delete Passwords and Usernames on Multiple Units
- Display Unit Status
- Communicate with WTI Units, Control Switching or Port Connection Operations
- Delete Units from List
- Back Up DMU Configuration to a Secondary WTI Unit
The Device Management Utility includes the following features:
Discover New WTI Devices
This function is used to find WTI devices on the client network. After WTI devices have been found, devices can then be managed by the DMU. The DMU will scan one subnet at a time; in order discover units on other subnets, the Discovery procedure is repeated on each available subnet
Create Device Groups
After WTI devices have been discovered, you may then arrange the units into groups. Although this step is optional, it can help simplify management of multiple units by ensuring that similar units all receive the same instructions. The Device Grouping menu allows you to add, view, edit or delete Device Groups.
Change Passwords and Usernames on Multiple Units
The "Change User Passwords" menu allows you to select desired units from the list of all discovered units, and then change passwords and/or usernames on selected units. When passwords or usernames are changed, the DMU can generate a report in CSV, Text, or XML format.
Delete Passwords and Usernames on Multiple Units
The "Delete Users" function provides a fast and easy method for deleting accounts on multiple WTI units with a single command, rather than by accessing each unit individually. When passwords or usernames are deleted, the DMU can generate a report in CSV, Text, or XML format.
Display Unit Status
The "Manage Devices" function allows you to view the status of selected WTI units. The Unit Status screen will list the Unit Name, IP Address, MAC Address, DMU firmware version, the unit model number, the unitís current rating (power control products only), the temperature, number of switched outlets present (power control products only), the number of serial ports present (serial console server products only), the unitís software version and will also indicate whether or not a modem is installed on the unit.
Communicate with WTI Units, Control Switching or Port Connection Operations
Allows you to access the command mode for any listed (discovered) unit, providing one-click access to the Web Browser command interface on WTI units. This essentially establishes a "pass through" connection to another unit in order to control port connection or power switching functions.
Delete Units from List
Allows you to delete WTI units from the list of found units.
Back up DMU Configuration to a Secondary Unit
This feature can be used to back-up all user-defined DMU parameters to another listed WTI unit. This ensures that even if the master unit is unavailable or out of service, you will still be able to access the Management Utility program via a secondary unit, without losing defined Device Groups or repeating the device discovery process.
The new WTI Device Management Utility is now available with firmware Version 2.01 for all TSM, MPC & RSM-8R4 products and Version 4.01 for all RSM Series products.
