The ESCLP-100 provides 8 independent RS-232 ports and completely meets the PCI 2.3 specification for universal connectivity and the (MD1) Low Profile board specification.

The new Low Profile PCI footprint was designed to provide greater flexibility for embedded systems, thin-clients, desktop and server environments. The ESCLP-100 is mechanically similar to a standard PCI board, but uses a short low height board with a low profile mounting bracket (a standard PCI mounting bracket is also supplied wit the board). It is designed to fit into systems as low as 3.350" without using riser cards.

The board is designed for 32-bit addressing at 33MHz, and can be used in standard 5V PCI as well as 3.3V PCI and PCI-X backplanes. This means that the ESCLP-100 can be used with current equipment, and will not need to be replaced if the system is upgraded. It also means that a single serial board solution can be used across a diverse network comprised of many different types of computer.

The ESCLP-100 uses 16750 UARTs with 63-byte FIFOs which can support speeds up to 921.6 Kbps. Serial port connections to the board are made via the included cable which provides eight DB-9 male connectors which include all hand shake and Modem controls. The ESCLP-100 can operate in temperature from 0 to 70 degrees C making it ideal for industrial server applications
