Interworld Electronics has the released a series of Low Profile PCI, RS-232 serial boards in one, two and four port versions. Low Profile PCI boards were designed to provide greater flexibility for embedded systems, thin-clients, desktop and server environments. Also under development are eight port asynchronous serial RS-232 boards and multiport asynchronous serial RS-422/485 boards.

The boards are mechanically similar to standard PCI boards, but use a shorter board and a different mounting bracket. They are designed to fit into systems as low as 3.350" without using riser cards. The boards are built on 32-bit addressing, and can be used in standard PCI backplanes or with specialised LowProfile PCI brackets. These new boards have speeds up to 921.6 kbps and 16554 UARTs with 16-byte FIFOs (16550 for SSCLP-100).

These Low Profile boards leverages Quatech’s extensive PCI expertise to provide the same rich features found in their standard PCI boards in this new form-factor. As with their standard PCI boards, Quatech's Low Profile boards strictly adhere to the PCI specification standards. For example, Quatech Low Profile boards, unlike those of some competitors, use a universal connector compatible with both the 3.3 volt connector key required by the specification and the 5V connection used by older PC and thin client systems. This means that their Low Profile boards can be used with current equipment, and will not need to be replaced as you upgrade your systems.

Quatech has specialised in reliable data communication products for more than 18 years. They are passionate about adhering to standards specifications and vigilant about product testing, so you can be sure that every Quatech board will install smoothly and consistently function properly in your system. Quatech PCI boards are meticulously designed and manufactured to the highest quality standards.
